BABE RUTH BASEBALL 13-14 DIVISION
THE 13-14 DIVISION is one of 3 BABE RUTH BASEBALL Divisions offered by CCYL. Baseball League Age is determined by how old the player will be on April 30, 2010. All Babe Ruth Baseball games are played on the regulation 90-foot diamond/60-foot 6-inches pitching distance. All new players to an age division will most likely be required to attend the player skills evaluation which will be held March 13th, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and March 14th, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, at the Armory in La Plata. Opening Day for all the Babe Ruth divisions isn't until May 10th, right after high schools finish their regular season, and runs for about 7 weeks to the end of June. This way players can play both with minimal conflict.
This section is for the 13-14 age group, which per Babe Ruth Baseball, allows players born on or after May 1, 1995 to play.
Bats: 13-14 division players are NOT required to use only -3 BESR rated or wooden bats as required by the 15-16 & 17-18 divisons. The 13-14 division players may use lighter bats if they so desire, however it must be cautioned, should they play in the older divisions or at high school, they will be required to use the -3 BESR rated bats. Therefore, it is recommended that players consider using the -3 BESR bats or wooden bats, while playing in the 13-14 division.
Line-Up: Under the CCYL 13-14 rules, every player who shows up is in the batting line-up and there is open substitution in the field, so players are in the game at all times and usually get more playing time in the field.
Schedule: The 13-14 Baseball division will be scheduled to usually play 2 games per week. Most likely, home games will be at either Laurel Springs Park or Bensville Park on Mondays through Fridays. It is possible that there could be an interleague schedule against St. Mary's and/or Calvert teams. Those games would also likely be played on Monday through Fridays at the home team's location. No games will be scheduled for weekends if at all possible, however it may be necessary to have make-up games on weekends. Every effort will be made to avoid weekend games if at all possible.

***The last day to register & be guaranteed a spot is March 6th. After that a $10 late fee applies plus there is no guarantee your child will have a spot on a team, they may be wait-listed. This is because we have to plan for the number of teams, get managers, order uniforms, etc. However, we will do whatever we can to get all the kids in the league that we can.
