Welcome to the Charles County Youth League (CCYL), where the kids always come 1st!!!
CCYL is founded on 4 main pillars: Have Fun, Do Your Best, Team Work, & Sportsmanship! We teach that if you do those 4 things then you had a good day, win or lose! We also teach that priorities (in order) are: Family, School, then Baseball/Softball!
The objective of the CCYL is to instill the values of good sportsmanship, character, community and integrity in our youth. We desire to provide them with an enriching environment where they can reach their goals of sport and exceed their own expectations.
CCYL is associated with Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball. Our emphasis is to assist children in sportsmanship and skills development. It is our desire that each child is given a positive environment to play a competitive sport. It is CCYL's intent to use our website to provide timely, secure information to our CCYL members. The on-line registration allows our members to register at their convenience. It provides the CCYL Board of Directors and League Commissioners the ability to more effectively serve the children of Charles County.

posted 07/01/2010 Registration for Fall Ball is almost over so you must register ASAP to secure your spot! We will form teams by about Aug 21st & after that there are no guarantees you'll be able to get on a team. The ONLY way to register for Fall Ball is online via the CCYL online registration system. Simply log in & click on "Register Online" on the Home Page left side menu & follow the simple instructions.
If you already have a member account with CCYL please do NOT create a new one. Please log in with your email address & Password BEFORE registering. If you forgot your Password simply type in just your email address, leave the Password field blank, & click on "OK" and the system will email your Password to you.
The 2010 Fall Ball season will start 7 September & last approximately 6 weeks until 15 October. The cost is $60 per player from 1 July until 15 August and $70 per player beginning 16 August. The fees are non-refundable. Each player will receive a jersey and hat/visor in addition to the games. Most teams will be scheduled to play 2 games/week; no games on weekends & no make-up games. Most teams have only 1 or 2 practices before the season begins & then don't practice at all once games start. There may ocassionally be clinics.
Fall Ball Divisions are:
8U SB, 12U SB, Rookie BB, 10U BB, 12U BB, & 13-15 BB.
If you are interested in Fall Ball T-Ball please contact the T-Ball Commissioner, Melissa Miller, at
& if there's enough interest we'll do it.
A few quick notes about Fall Ball:
1. All divisions will be formed based on demand. If enough kids sign up then we'll have the division. If not then we'll adjust accordingly but may have to refund your money if we can't place you in a division.
2. Fall Ball is very laid back compared to Spring Ball. It is more like instructional backyard ball. There are far fewer teams. Players will get a reversible jersey so that sometimes we can choose up sides to mix up the teams for a little variety & fun. Sometimes we don't play games at all & instead do fun team drills that the kids really enjoy plus hopefully increases their skills at the same time. Managers are encouraged to rotate players around to different positions (while still teaching the positions), especially pitcher & catcher. Every team bats the entire line-up & there's open substitution such that nobody should sit on the bench more than 1 inning at a time & EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY ABOUT THE SAME # OF INNINGS IN EVERY GAME! 3. Players moving up next Spring should play up this Fall. For example, if your child was league age 10 & played in 10U this Spring, & will be league age 11 next Spring, then register for 12U this Fall. It will help them adjust much easier next Spring. So please register for the correct division. Managers should be aware this is the case & be extra patient in developing players this Fall.
4. There are NO UMPIRES for Fall Ball. The manager or a coach of the team in the field will umpire from behind the pitcher's mound (this way they can also more easily give instruction to the pitcher & the fielders). They should have a generous but reasonable strike zone that encourages the players to swing rather than walk.
5. We do not keep score nor standings for Fall Ball.
The bottom line is that Fall Ball is Fun Ball...as such, please do not get caught up in winning...HAVE FUN!!!
There are no tryouts to attend. Once registration closes we will form teams, approve managers & coaches, make schedules, & then the managers will notify the players what team they are on & what their team schedule will be. That should happen approximately August 25th.
If you have any questions about Fall Ball Registration please contact the CCYL Player Agent, Ron Rivera, at

posted 05/09/2010 CCYL puts safety 1st & foremost! On-deck batter, in dugout, on field, warming up pitchers...everywhere! This requires everyone's diligence, especially adults!
Every T-Ball, Rookie, & 8U softball team should have a coach/parent in the dugout making sure everyone is safe, especially in regards to the on-deck batter. It is recommended that even the 10U & 12U teams also follow this guideline. Be especially careful that nobody goes near the on-deck batter while he/she is swinging. Bats can be extremely dangerous!
Anyone warming up pitchers (including coaches) must wear a catcher's mask.
CCYL Severe Weather Policy:
Games shall be suspended whenever lightning is seen or thunder is heard (no matter how far away it may seem) or whenever weather conditions make it unsafe to play. Play may be suspended by the Umpire, any CCYL BOD member, or any county field supervisor. If none are present then the managers/coaches can suspend play. If one game is suspended at a particular facility then all games will be suspended. Whenever play is suspended EVERYONE should leave the field & take shelter in substantial buildings or in cars with the windows rolled up. Avoid small rain shelters, dugouts, trees, metal fences, gates, power poles, etc. Play shall not resume until 30 minutes from the last lightning or thunder. The maximum time for suspended play is 45 minutes, afterwhich the game is called off for the day.
Please make sure safety is paramount! Thanks.

All managers have the power to run their team's web page within the CCYL web site. It's a powerful & fun tool that I strongly recommend all teams use. You can communicate easily with your team, see the roster, post bulletin board items, share pictures, etc.
Here's how to access the web site as a manager. When you do that you have power to contact your team & manipulate your team page.
1. Log into the web site by clicking on the Admin tab (top menu), type in your name (NOT email address), & type in your manager password (given by your Division Commissioner).
2. On the top menu bar click on "Team", make sure "Season" says "2010 Season", navigate "Division" to whatever your division is, then navigate "Team" to whatever your team name is.
3. Once into your team page the left side menu has your team page options.
If you have any questions please contact your division Commissioner.
Have fun!
