Welcome to the Charles County Youth League (CCYL), where the kids always come 1st!!!
The objective of the CCYL is to instill the values of good sportsmanship, character, community and integrity in our youth. We desire to provide them with an enriching environment where they can reach their goals of sport and exceed their own expectations.
The 4 main pillars that form the foundation of CCYL are:
Have FUN; Do Your Best; Teamwork; & Sportsmanship!!!!
We teach that as long as the kids did those 4 things then they had a good day, win or lose!
CCYL is associated with Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball. Our emphasis is to assist children in sportsmanship and skills development. It is our desire that each child is given a positive environment to play a competitive sport. It is CCYL's intent to use our website to provide timely, secure information to our CCYL members. The on-line registration allows our members to register at their convenience. It provides the CCYL Board of Directors and League Commissioners the ability to more effectively serve the children of Charles County.
For the benefit of the kids, we would like all parents & coaches to keep the following poem in mind:
Little Eyes Upon You
By: Author Unknown
There are little eyes upon you and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming of the day he'll be like you.
You're the little fellow's idol, you're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you no suspicions ever rise.
He believes in you devoutly, holds all you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way when he's grown up just like you.
There's a wide-eyed little fellow who believes you're always right;
and his eyes are always opened, and he watches day and night.
You are setting an example every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting to grow up to be like you.

All managers have the power to run their team's web page within the CCYL web site. It's a powerful & fun tool that I strongly recommend all teams use. You can communicate easily with your team, see the roster, post bulletin board items, share pictures, etc.
Here's how to access the web site as a manager. When you do that you have power to contact your team & manipulate your team page.
1. Log into the web site by clicking on the Admin tab (top menu), type in your name (NOT email address), & type in your manager password (given by your Division Commissioner).
2. On the top menu bar click on "Team", make sure "Season" says "2010 Season", navigate "Division" to whatever your division is, then navigate "Team" to whatever your team name is.
3. Once into your team page the left side menu has your team page options.
If you have any questions please contact your division Commissioner.
Have fun!

posted 02/18/2010 CCYL Umpire Training and Certification:
Every year we lose some of our umpires as they head off to college or move away for a variety of reasons. Because of this, and to continually improve our officiating, we conduct a complete umpire training course each year. Our umpire training for 2010 will begin on 28 February and will be conducted on 4 consecutive Sunday evenings followed by a certification exam on 27 March. If you are at least 14 years old and think umpiring (softball or baseball - or both) might be for you please join us. We especially need adults interested in making a unique investment in the youth of Charles County. We'll train and certify you, and you'll be compensated for your time spent on the field.
To indicate your interest in umpiring this year, please go to the CCYL website and fill out the Umpire Registration form (all the way at the bottom of the "Register Online" page). If you have any questions or problems with the registration, get in touch with our Umpire-in-Chief, Mel Simon (email:

posted 01/03/2010 On-Line Registration for the CCYL Spring season is underway.
The deadline to register for 12 & Younger was midnight Saturday February 13th.
HOWEVER, THERE ARE STILL A FEW OPENINGS LEFT IN EACH OF THE 12&UNDER DIVISIONS SO REGISTER NOW & HOPEFULLY YOU'LL BE ONE OF THE LUCKY FEW WHO GET IN AFTER THE DEADLINE!!!
The deadline to register for 13 & Older is midnight Saturday March 6th.
After the deadlines you are not guaranteed a spot on a team and a $10 late fee applies, so please register & pay ASAP!
ON-LINE IS NOW THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER. There were two In-Person Registrations on January 23rd and February 13th but no more. Players new to CCYL must provide a copy of their birth certificate and proof of Charles County residency (copy of a phone bill, electric bill, etc.).
*******************************************************************************************
IF YOU REGISTERED LAST YEAR THEN YOU NEED TO LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU PROCEED. YOU WILL HAVE A MUCH EASIER REGISTRATION EXPERIENCE IF YOU LOG-IN FIRST BECAUSE MANY OF THE FIELDS WILL ALREADY BE POPULATED WITH YOUR INFORMATION. LOG-IN USING THE LEFT-SIDE MENU, AT THE BOTTOM CLICK ON "EDIT MY ACCOUNT", ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS & PASSWORD. IF YOU FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD THEN IT CAN BE EMAILED TO YOUR ACCOUNT. PLEASE DO NOT CREATE A DUPLICATE ACCOUNT. If you have a new email address or any questions please contact the Player Agent, Ron Rivera at
********************************************************************************************
To register simply click on “Register Online” on the left side menu & then scroll down to the appropriate division for baseball or softball. You can log into your account either before you do this or it will ask you to do so after you click on “Begin Registration” at the bottom of each division registration form. League age is defined for Spring 2010 baseball as the age of the player on 30 April 2010. League age for Girl's Softball for the Spring 2010 season is the age of the player on 31 December 2009.
*********Please accept the TEXT MESSAGE feature in your account's personal info!!! This is very important because CCYL uses the web site automatic notification feature to notify you of any game cancellations, we do not use phone calling trees any more. Every person on every affected team will get an email automatically but you will only get a text message if you accept the text message option. Text messages will allow you to receive immediate info directly to your cell phone which is usually more timely than email since you are not always near your computer. The price of a text message is small compared to the price & aggravation of showing up at a field ready to play only to find out the game has been postponed.
**********
A skills evaluation event is conducted for every division except T-ball, Rookie Boys baseball, and Rookie Girls softball. The skills evaluation is required for new players in the respective divisions. The intent of this event is to allow an even distribution of players for each team.
